In honor of Literacy Month, Catoosa Citizens for Literacy participated in the Dictionary Project and distributed dictionaries and ink pens to every third grader in Catoosa County.

The children emjoyed receiving the dictionaries, as were the teachers.

Executive director of Catoosa Citizens for Literacy Shirley Smith and coordinator for Catoosa Family Collaborative Phil Ledbetter stressed to the children the importance of staying in school and graduating in 2020 using the school’s motto “Destination: Graduation.” These third graders will represent the graduating class of 2020.

A few days following the presentation, letters were received from some of the teachers expressing their appreciation for the dictionaries and giving examples of how the students are already benefiting from the dictionaries.
