Millions of horses and mules participated in the American Civil War by pulling artillery into the fray. Historian and park volunteer Richard Manion will lead a horseback tour of Chickamauga Battlefield where he will discuss the various functions of the mounted service during the battle.
This tour will last approximately three to four hours and is limited to 10 riders.

Those riders wishing to participate should be able to easily mount and dismount in the field. Participants are also encouraged to bring a bottle of water and a sack lunch.
This program will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25 at the Chickamauga Battlefield Horse Unloading Area on Chickamauga-Vittetoe Road.
