At the regularly scheduled Ringgold city council meeting Monday night, the city was presented with two replica Civil War flags by Ringgold Telephone Co. to commemorate the Battle of Ringgold Gap.

According to city manager Dan Wright, the plans are to create a spot for the flags in the display area of the Ring-gold Depot.

“I think it will be a great addition to the displays we already have up at the Depot,” Wright said. “Any time we can add pieces of history for folks to see, it’s great for the city”

In other business at the August 9 Ringgold City Council meeting:

· The council approved a motion to contract a new webmaster to re-design the city’s website.

· The council approved a 5k run – 1k walk on Oct. 9, sponsored by the Catoosa Citizens for Animal Care.

· The council approved authorization of a 2010 ARC grant for the I-75 exit 345 sewer extension project.
