No jury had been selected by the end of the day Monday for the Tonya Craft trial, which is being held at the Catoosa County Courthouse in downtown Ringgold.

Craft, a 37-year-old former Chickamauga Elementary School kindergarten teacher, is facing 22 counts: 12 counts of child molestation, six counts of aggravated sexual battery and six counts of aggravated child molestation.

Jury selections for two separate trials were held at the court Monday and both courtrooms were filled to capacity.

Officials said there were 200 potential jurors for the Craft case. They said jury selection will resume Tuesday morning.

No media or private citizens, except for immediate family, were allowed in the courtroom during the jury selec-tion. A gag order in the case prohibits reporters from being in the courtroom during jury selection.

The entire trial is expected to take around two weeks.

Craft is accused of molesting three girls, ages 6-7 at the time of her arrest in June 2008. The case was investigated by the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office.

In August 2008 Craft was fired from Chickamauga Elementary, where she taught kindergarten for three years.

Judge Brian House is presiding over the case in Catoosa County Superior Court. The judge is looking for 12 jurors and two alternates.

Ha! For a minute I thought y'all were serious. Let's just "assume" that this is a witch-hunt and she's innocent without hearing any of the DA's evidence....classic.

I agree that it is a witch hunt! Catoosa Co ga is full of twisted justice. How can anyone there get a fair trial?

This is a witch hunt from start to finish! Shame on the Judge and the DA for this. You would think that the Duke trials in NC would be a warning for this kind of railroading. I hope Mrs. Craft turns this around and heads roll!
