Walker County Board of Education will apply for federal funds for technology improvements, despite concerns of two board members. Board members Mike North and Randy Bryant, during the school board's regular monthly meeting on Monday, abstained from voting on the system's E-Rate application. They said they fear Congress could discontinue the program and do not want the system to rely on that money for telecommunication improvements. They did not abstain because they do not support the program, they said. Wayne Robinson, science coordinator for Walker schools, said applying for reimbursement for telecommunication expenses in "no way" obligates the school system to take on projects
