A Chickamauga man is facing hit-and-run and drunk-driving charges after sideswiping a Homeowners Rental truck and fleeing the scene on June 21.

According to Walker County Sheriff’s Department reports:

Joseph Steven Price, 42 was driving a Dodge pickup about 10:15 p.m. along Ga. 341 near Camp Road when his vehicle swerved into the oncoming lane and struck the outside mirror on the rental truck. Price continued driving, eventually wrecking the pickup into a tree on Brotherton Lane in Chickamauga.

The driver in the rental truck said Price, after hitting the mirror, cut off his lights so he would not be detected.

When authorities found Price’s wrecked pickup, he admitted to having several beers and said that he was sorry for hitting the truck.

After failing a field sobriety test, Price was arrested and charged with DUI, hit-and-run, and failure to maintain a lane.
