A Ringgold man was arrested on numerous felony and misdemeanor charges after he entered and stole items from several vehicles in the area while in possession of drugs, police say.

According to the Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office:

Curtis Anthony Bryson, 30, of U.S. 41 in Ringgold was arrested on Monday, Feb. 11, on six counts of entering an auto, second-degree burglary, possession of a Schedule II drug, possession of marijuana (less than one ounce), possession of drug-related objects, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, giving false statements, and giving a false name or address. His bond was set at $51,500.

Around 3 a.m. on Feb. 11, police were notified after a resident on Pineywood Drive called 911 claiming that an intruder had entered three of his vehicles and took off with numerous items.

The man told police he then jumped into his vehicle and followed the burglar, reports show.

“The victim stated that he was awakened by a strange noise coming from around his vehicles,” deputy Robert Brown said. “He then went outside to see what was going on and found a car door and a truck left open. He then said he observed a black car in front of the house that quickly drove off.”

The man caught up with the black Honda on Westbrook Road, and followed the driver down Mt. Pisgah Road towards Ga. 151 (Alabama Highway). He wound up losing the driver along Bowman Road, but not before obtaining a tag number on the vehicle, reports show.

“The victim said he could see that there was only one man in the Honda, and that the vehicle was full of a variety of items,” Brown said. “Realizing that he did not have his cell phone, he went back home and called 911.”

Catoosa County dispatch put out a “be on the lookout” (BOLO) for the black Honda, and the vehicle was spotted a short time later by deputy Earl Wilson, who was parked in the North Georgia Healthcare Center parking lot on Ga. 151, reports show.

Wilson followed the Honda a few hundred yards to the Tiger Market gas station at the corner of Ga. 151 and Poplar Springs Road.

“A black Honda Accord passed my location on Alabama Highway from the direction of Mt. Pisgah Road,” Wilson said. “The vehicle’s windows were fogged up and appeared to be full of occupants or property. The vehicle also appeared to be weighted down with items.”

Bryson was then stopped and questioned at the Tiger Market by deputy Wilson while deputy Brown and the resident who called 911 made also made their way to the scene.

The man identified Bryson as the offender he had chased from his house and identified several items in Bryson’s vehicle to be his.

Bryson’s Honda was impounded so that the stolen property could be organized pertaining to which incident locations they were taken from.

Detective Ed Vickrey said three other automobiles had been entered in addition to the three at the original location on Pineywood Drive.

“The vehicle was loaded with property matching the description of items taken from several different incident locations,” Vickrey said.

Bryson was placed under arrest and transported to Catoosa County jail, where it was discovered that he had provided deputies with an alias and false address earlier in the evening.

Bryson told deputies Brown and Wilson that his name was Bill Joe Ware and that he lived in Ooltewah, Tenn.

“He went by Billy Joe Ware until he slipped up and was signing his rights waiver using his real name,” Vickrey said. “I then questioned him and he admitted that his real name was Curtis Bryson.”
