Calvin Dewayne Havner, 41, of 5058 Stewart Road in Tunnel Hill, engaged in a physical altercation with his wife on the night of Oct. 3, in which she claimed that he threatened her, the children, and the home.
The next day, Havner was arrested in Dade County on 10 charges after officers were able to locate him through a tracker on his cell phone.
The grand jury's indictment, which was handed down Dec. 5, consists of 20 total charges, including four counts of aggravated assault, three counts of first-degree cruelty to children, criminal attempt to commit a felony, four counts of false imprisonment, four counts of terroristic threats and acts, battery, and four counts of third-degree cruelty to children
The indictment alleges that Havner poured kerosene on his wife, told her that he was going to set her on fire, and held her down with his foot on her throat while the couple's 5- and 8-year-old children were present.
Havner is currently in federal prison due to a previous unrelated case.
