COMMUNITY · Parkridge will hold a female-focused dinner and physician panel discussion on women’s health at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, at the Diagnostic Center adjacent to the Parkridge Medical Center campus. The symposium panel of specialists includes a cardiologist, general surgeon, colorectal surgeon, gynecologist, family medicine physician, radiologist, and oncologists. COMMUNITY · The Catoosa County Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting for ADS Security at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the chamber office, 264 Catoosa Circle (inside The Colonnade at Benton Place) in Ringgold.

COMMUNITY · The Walker County Health Department will offer flu vaccinations, for adults age 18 years and older, at a special drive-through flu-shot clinic on a first-come, first-serve basis from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at the health department, 603 E. Villanow Street in LaFayette. Cost is $20. Cash, check, Visa, MasterCard, Medicare, Medicaid and both United Healthcare and CIGNA State Health Benefit Insurance will be accepted. For children older than six months, flu shots will be available by appointment beginning Sept. 27. Cost is also $20. Parents should call 706-638-5577 to schedule.

COMMUNITY · The Catoosa County Republican Party has opened a Romney/Ryan 2012 Headquarters in Ringgold, at 20 Legion Street on the corner next to Richards Restaurant behind the Catoosa County Courthouse. Hours are from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will hold an event to help returning veterans readjust and features the Mobile Vet Center. This free event takes place on the main campus of Chattanooga State in the Humanities Auditorium from 7:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m. on Sept. 27 from 7:30 -12:15 p.m. Attendance is limited to the first 350 veterans who register. Free parking will be available in the Center for Engineering, Technology, Arts and Sciences (CETAS), formerly the Olan Mills Warehouse, parking lot.
