South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory will be host to all area military veterans on Saturday, July 21, on the Catoosa County Colonnade campus.

Veteran's Appreciation Day will kick off at 10 a.m. that day, with the official ceremony beginning at 11 a.m.

According to Susan Tankersley, media and public relations director for Lane, "We want to show our appreciation for our veterans. The Fourth of July is a family day and then on Veteran's Day we have a ceremony at the flags on the Colonnade campus, but this is just a very special day to say thank you to all of our men and women who have served in the military."

Tanksersley said that there will be food and drinks served, as well as many different activities, including speakers and patriotic music to go along with a 21-gun salute by the local Vietnam Veterans chapter.

There will also be a display of military vehicles and a flag-raising ceremony in which a new flag will be presented at the funeral home.

More information can be found at the funeral home's website, lane-southcrestchapel.com, or by calling 706-866-5151. The funeral home is at 833 Chickamauga Ave. in Rossville, at the foot of historic Missionary Ridge.
