Hundreds of dollars, prescription pills stolen during purse snatch in Fort Oglethorpe

A 67-year-old Fort Oglethorpe woman is out hundreds of dollars and her medication after her purse was stolen from her grocery-shopping cart.

According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:

The theft occurred at about 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, at the BiLo grocery store at 531 Ga. 2 (Battlefield Parkway).

“The victim stated that while she was in the bakery section of the store, someone stole her pocketbook and medication from her purse, which was open on the top seat of the buggy,” officer Joel Walker wrote in the report.

The victim told police there was about $670 in the black leather pocketbook.

A bottle of prescription hydrocodone and a bottle of prescription methadone were the two medications reported stolen.
