Two Boynton teams are still alive in the winners' bracket of their respective divisions as Dizzy Dean state baseball tournaments prepare for play on Sunday around the state.

7-year-olds

In the sanctioned tournament at Canton, the Boynton Bandits will play at 10 a.m. on Sunday against Midway, but two other local teams were eliminated on Saturday.

Ringgold was sent home with a loss to Dawson County while LaFayette was knocked out by the Eastside Titans.

The Boynton Jackets eliminated the Hobgood Hurricanes in an elimination game on Saturday afternoon. They will play again at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday against the loser of the 12 p.m. game between the Oregon Park Sharks and Sandy Plains Blue.

At the invitational tournament in Chickamauga, the host Trojans rallied from 7-0 down in the first inning to beat the Canton Noles early Saturday morning, then stayed alive with a one-run victory over the Rome Braves. Chickamauga will face the Midway Mudcats at 10 a.m. Sunday with the winner moving on to face Sandy Springs at 11:30.

8-year-olds

The final three local teams still alive after Friday's action in the invitational tournament at Rock Spring were all sent home on Saturday morning.

The Ringgold Red Sox fell with a loss to the Powder Springs Thunder, Rock Spring was bitten by the Rome Rattlers, and the Chickamauga Trojans were also sent packing with a loss to the Sandy Plains Cougars.

12-year-olds

At Sandy Springs, the Boynton Bulls remained alive in the winners' bracket after a victory over the Sandy Springs Storm on Saturday afternoon. The Bulls will play the NYO Warriors at 11:15 a.m. on Sunday in the winners' bracket semis. With a win, Boynton would play at 8 p.m. Sunday against either Winston or Buckhead.

Senior Division

The North Georgia Chiefs have punched a ticket to Sunday's 4:30 p.m. championship game where they await the winner of the game between the Boynton Bulldogs and the Gordon County Vikings.

The Chiefs downed the Bulldogs on Saturday, dropping Boynton to the losers' bracket. Boynton's other entry, the Storm, lost their opener to the Bulldogs on Friday night, came back Saturday morning to take down the Shaw Park Colt 45's, but were eliminated later on Saturday by Gordon County.
