7-year-olds
The sanctioned tournament at Canton began play on Friday, but four local teams will not play their openers until Saturday morning.
The Boynton Bandits will take on LaFayette, the Boynton Jackets will square off with Midway, and Ringgold will try their luck against the Rome Rivercats.
The only local team in the invitational tournament, host Chickamauga, lost their opener to Bartow County on Friday night and will face the Canton Noles in an elimination game Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m.
8-year-olds
In the sanctioned tournament taking place in Valdosta, Ringgold is already headed back home after going 1-2.
Ringgold lost Thursday's opener to the Canton Stingers, but beat Dade County in a losers' bracket game later that night. They were sent packing on Friday after dropping an elimination game to Sandy Plains Red.
Three of the four local teams taking part in the invitational tournament at Rock Spring will all have to complete runs through the losers' bracket in order to win the state banner, while the fourth team has already been knocked out.
Ringgold opened with a win over SCRA on Thursday, but dropped a game to the Hobgood Heat on Friday. Ringgold will face Powder Springs in an elimination game at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Rock Spring got past the Macedonia Mustangs on Thursday, but fell to Kennesaw on Friday, setting up a win-or-go-home game against the Rome Rattlers at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Chickamauga is also facing a do-or-die situation. The Trojans lost their opener to Bremen on Thursday, but downed Gordon County on Friday and will take on the Sandy Plains Cougars in a 9 a.m. elimination game on Saturday.
LaFayette went 0-2 in the tournament, losing Thursday to the Hobgood Storm before being put out by Powder Springs on Friday.
10-year-olds
The District 1 champion Rossville Reds saw their run come to an end on Friday in Valdosta. Rossville beat the Canton Stingers in Thursday's opener, but fell to Union County later that night before being knocked out with a loss to Valdosta-Lowndes on Friday.
Boynton is also out after consecutive losses on Thursday and Friday to Union County and Bartow County.
12-year-olds
At Sandy Springs, the Boynton Bulls won their opening game over the Kennesaw Generals on Friday night. They will be in action again at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday when they face the Sandy Springs Storm.
No information about the Senior Division tournament, being held at Boynton, was available as of press time.
