Fred has a nose for fun. He can’t help it.

Having fun is as much a part of Fred’s DNA as...well... having four paws and a tail. It’s a priority with him, and he’s really good at it. Some might even say he’s an expert.

Fred is a Husky mix. His semi-erect ears give him a happy-go-lucky look, but don't let that fool you. He’s one smart dog.

At eight-months-old and neutered, Fred could be the fun at your house. Right now, he lives at the Walker County Animal Shelter, but he’s excited about the prospect of finding his forever home. He will make a great family dog, and with some guidance and positive reinforcement training, he’s certain to have impeccable manners.

If you think Fred is the dog you’re looking for, call or go by the Walker County Animal Shelter before Friday, May 4. Fred is one of the lucky dogs from Walker County who will be participating in the Spring Fling Adopt-A-Thon at Petsmart on Gunbarrel Road near Hamilton Place Mall.

This will be the largest pet adoption event the Chattanooga area has ever seen. Each day there will be more than 100 animals for adoption. Hours are Friday, May 4, from noon to 8 p.m.; Saturday, May 5, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; and Sunday, May 6, noon to 6 p.m. The goal for the weekend is 250 adoptions. There will be live radio broadcasts, a pooch-kissing booth, food, games, prizes and, best of all, forever homes for lots of furry friends.

If you want to meet Fred before the Adopt-A-Thon, go by the Walker County Animal Shelter at 5488 North Marble Top Road or call 706-375-2100 and get ready to have some fun.

Ann Malone is a pet photographer and can't remember a time she did not have pets in her life. Today she has three dogs, three cats and one parrot. She can be reached at annmh@live.com.
