COMMUNITY · The Chickamauga Public Library Board of Trustees will meet Wednesday, April 18, at 3 p.m. at the Chickamauga Public Library.

COMMUNITY · Homeschooled children are invited to come to the LaFayette-Walker County Public Library Wednesday, April 18, at 1 p.m. to read books, learn and converse with other students their age.

Thursday, April 19

COMMUNITY · Center Post Community Center will hold a members’ meeting Thursday, April 19, at 7 p.m. The 2012-2014 Center Post board of directors will be selected by a nominat-ing committee, and old and new business will be discussed.

COMMUNITY · The Dade County Public Library Board of Trustees will meet Thursday, April 19, at 4 p.m. at the Dade County Commission Building.

COMMUNITY · The Lookout Mountain Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host the 2012 Home Team Banquet April 19. Former UGA quarterback David Greene will speak. Proceeds from this annual fundraiser will benefit the FCA ministry of Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade and Walker counties. A silent auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. All-American Sponsors ($2000 – two tables, seats sixteen), and All-Conference Sponsors ($1000 – one table, seats eight) will have the opportunity to meet David Greene at a closed reception prior to the meal. Friday, April 20

COMMUNITY · Georgia Northwestern Technical College’s (GNTC) horticulture program will be holding a spring plant sale April 20-22. Sale hours are 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Friday, April 20; 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 21; and 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 22. The green-houses are located across from GNTC’s Floyd County Campus, next to the Woodlee Building on Cedar Avenue in Rome, Georgia. All proceeds from the plant sale will benefit the Horti-culture program at GNTC. Items being sold include trees, shrubs, ferns, woody plants, annu-als, perennials, sun plants, and shade plants. There will also be a selection of vegetable plants including tomato, pepper, cucumber, and much more.

COMMUNITY · Cooper Heights Church of God will host a yard sale on April 20 and 21, and a bake sale on April 21, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The sale will include small items from the Riley estate, and other miscellaneous items like picture frames, laminate flooring and cordless microphones. The church is at 12598 Ga. 193 in Chickamauga.
