COMMUNITY · The Cherokee Regional Library Board of Trustees will meet Monday, April 16, at 2 p.m. at the La-Fayette-Walker County Library’s temporary location of 1105 North Main St., LaFayette.

COMMUNITY · The LaFayette-Walker County Public Library will have their Preschool Ready to READ class on Mondays, April 16, 23 and 30 at 10 a.m.

EDUCATION · The regular monthly meetings of the Walker County Board of Education will be held on the third Monday of each month, with the exception of the January, February, November and December meetings in 2012. Meetings will be held at 6 p.m. at the Walker County Department of Education Building, 201 South Duke Street, LaFayette. 2012 meetings are April 16, May 14, June 18, July 16, Aug. 20, Sept. 17, Oct. 15, Nov. 12 and Dec. 10.

EDUCATION · Ridgeland High School’s annual Career/College Fair will take place from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the RHS gymnasium. COMMUNITY · The Battlefield Farmers’ Market will host a meeting for new vendors wishing to join the market for the upcoming 2012 season. The meeting will be held Tuesday, April 17, at the Walker County Ag Center at 7 p.m., for potential new and returning vendors. The market is open to all individuals in Walker, Dade, Catoosa, Chattooga, Whitfield, Gordon and Floyd counties in Georgia, DeKalb and Jackson counties in Alabama, and Marion, Hamilton and Bradley counties in Tennessee. COMMUNITY · Erlanger at Hutcheson will host a community health screening on Tuesday, April 17, focused on common health issues and stress management. The event will be held from 4-7 p.m. in the main lobby of the Fort Oglethorpe campus. Free cholesterol, melanoma, oral cancer, blood flow and many other screenings will be of-fered. In addition, health vendors will be onsite with information on stress management, rehabilitation and much more. COMMUNITY · The Chickamauga Public Library Board of Trustees will meet Wednesday, April 18, at 3 p.m. at the Chickamauga Public Library.

COMMUNITY · Homeschooled children are invited to come to the LaFayette-Walker County Public Library Wednesday, April 18, at 1 p.m. to read books, learn and converse with other students their age.
