The annual Walker County rabies clinics are back in full swing this spring.

Sponsored by the Walker County Cooperative Extension Office and local veterinarians, the clinics will be pro-viding low-cost rabies vaccinations at various locations throughout the county on two consecutive weekends.

All pet owners who have not had a chance to get their dog or cat vaccinated against rabies, or whose pets’ rabies shots are past their yearly renewal date, are highly encouraged to bring in their animals for a $10-per-pet inocula-tion.

Vaccinating domestic cats and dogs against rabies is required by law in the state of Georgia. The vaccination is necessary to help prevent the spread of the deadly disease among both pets and humans.

For more information on rabies or the low-cost vaccination clinics, please contact the Walker County Coopera-tive Extension Office at 706-638-2548.
