COMMUNITY · The LaFayette-Walker County Public Library will have their Preschool Ready to READ class on Monday, March 26, at 10 a.m.

COMMUNITY · The Walker County Health Department is sponsoring grocery store tours to offer tips on label reading and healthy eating. Tours will be held on Monday, March 26, at 1 p.m. at BiLo in Rossville, and on Friday, March 30, at 10 a.m. at BiLo in LaFayette. Call 706-638-5577 to register. Space is limited.

Tuesday, March 27

COMMUNITY · The Rossville Library will host their weekly homeschool program Tuesday, March 27, at 1 p.m. The class consists of books, games, experiments and/or crafts. The theme this week is “London Bridge” and the kids will build bridges.

COMMUNITY · Commissioner Bebe Heiskell will give the 2012 State of the County Address at the Walker County Chamber of Commerce’s March membership luncheon Tuesday, March 27, at 11:50 a.m. at the Walker County Civic Center. Cost, which includes lunch, is $15 per person for chamber members and $25 for non-chamber members. COMMUNITY · The Brown Bag Book Club will meet Tuesday, March 27, from 12 –1:30 p.m. at the LaFayette-Walker County Public Library. This month’s featured book is “Room” by Emma Donoghue. Anyone with a love of reading should come to this event. The book for the month of April will be “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot.

COMMUNITY · “Ready to R.E.A.D. Time” storytime group at the Rossville library meets Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. Join us for books, games, and crafts. All ages welcome, come join the fun! The theme for March 27 is Alakazam!, read magical stories and do magic tricks.

COMMUNITY · Seniors and Friends of Fort Oglethorpe meet each Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Constitu-tion Hall on Forrest Road. The all-volunteer group offers games, crafts, blood pressure/blood sugar checks, bingo and refreshments. The remaining March schedule is: March 27, crafts, games, bingo, blood pressure/sugar checks. COMMUNITY · City Share will feature Matt Tomasula, founder of CityFabric, Inc., an organization that promotes civic and social engagement through simple map-based products, in a presentation Wednesday, March 28 at noon at Green|Spaces in Chattanooga.
