Charlsie Broome named to Dean's List at Shorter

Current Shorter University and former LaFayette High School softball player Charlsie Broome recently made the Dean’s List for the Spring 2011 semester.

In order to make the Dean’s List, students must have a 3.5 grade point average or above for the entire semester.

Broome, a junior right fielder, helped the Lady Hawks to a 46-16 record this past season. She batted .359 with 70 hits, 11 doubles, five triples, two homeruns, and 36 RBIs.

In addition, she led the team with 52 runs scored and was 31-of-27 in stole base attempts.

Among all NAIA-Division I players, she ranked in the top 30 nationally in stolen base attempts, stolen bases, stolen bases per game, triples, at-bats and total runs scored.

She is a career .321 hitter with 17 doubles, seven triples, six homeruns, 75 RBIs, 68 stolen bases and 143 runs scored.
