The 6-year-old World Series in Rome began pool play this morning with five Catoosa and Walker teams competing. Pool play will continue through Sunday with bracket play to begin on Monday.
In Pool B, the Ringgold Tigers faced Acworth Orange this morning. They will take on Snow Hill at 3 p.m. on Saturday before battling the Canton Stingers at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The Ringgold Tornadoes and Boynton Yellow are in Pool D. The Tornadoes were scheduled to face the Middle Valley Heat this morning, and they will play the Hobgood Hurricanes at 9 a.m. on Saturday.
Boynton will take on the Hurricanes at 1:30 today before facing the Heat at 1:30 tomorrow. Ringgold and Boynton will conclude pool play against each other at 1:30 on Sunday.
The Chickamauga Trojans and Boynton Bandits were both placed in Pool G. The Trojans will slated to take on the Kennesaw Generals today before going up agianst the Pinellas Park Punishers at noon on Saturday.
The Bandits will play the Punishers at 4:30 today and will face the Generals at 4:30 on Saturday. Boynton and Chickamauga will do battle at 4:30 on Sunday.
The Dizzy Dean 7-year-old World Series also got going on Friday at the Sonoraville Recreation Complex in Gordon County.
The Ringgold Tigers are in Pool A, and opened play today against the Hobgood Heat. They will face the East Brainerd Brigade on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and will finish up pool play Sunday night at 8 p.m. against the Eastside Titans.
The Walker County All-Stars were slated to take on the Harrison Aces this morning. They will square off with Sandy Plains Blue at 9:30 Saturday morning before taking on Forest Hills at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Play in Pool K will begin for the Boynton Dirt Bags at 6:30 this evening against the Northport Nationals. They will face the Eastside Lightning at 12:30 on Saturday, then will take on Carroll County at 6:30 Saturday night.
Jackson County is hosting the World Series for the 9, 11, and 13-year-olds, however brackets have not yet been posted online.
The World Series for the 8, 10, 12, and 14-year-olds will be held in Southaven, Miss starting next weekend, while Heritage High School in Ringgold will host the Senior (19-under) World Series, starting July 21.
The World Series for all divisions of softball will be at Green Brook Park, Miss. beginning July 20.
