The Boynton Bandits dropped a 16-15 heartbreaker to the Canton Stingers in the championship game of the Dizzy Dean 6-year-old "A" division state championship in Rome on Wednesday night.

Boynton had won back-to-back games on Tuesday to force Wednesday's second championship round game. They beat the Sandy Plains Cougars, 13-6, before knocking off Canton, 18-10, to set up the winner-take-all game.

The Bandits will try for Dizzy Dean's biggest prize when they return to Rome for the 6-year-old World Series, which begins on July 14.
