North Georgia Youth Football League crowns Super Bowl champions

The North Georgia Youth Football League held its Super Bowl this past Saturday at Ridgeland High School, and teams from Chickamauga, Chattanooga Valley, and Summerville were crowned champions.

The Chickamauga Trojans won the 6 and 7 year-old division with a 28-6 win over the Summerville Indians.

Cade Peterson carried 10 times for 145 yards and scored all four touchdowns for the Trojans. Aidan Platt rushed for 34 yards. Jason Motley added 23 yards scored on a 2-point conversion. Cody Thomas had 15 yards rushing and a conversion, while Brody Cobb picked up 12 yards on the ground.

Platt led the defense with six tackles. Peterson and Motley added five each, while Cobb, Thomas, and Austin Romans each had four. Ryan Thomas (defense) and Landon Griffey (offense) were noted for their play on the line.

The Chattanooga Valley Eagles won the 8 and 9 year-old title with a 22-6 win over Ringgold White.

Offensively, the Eagles got 228 yards rushing from Xavier Blackwell, who also had two touchdown runs, including one for 89 yards. Jordan Blackwell picked up 132 yards on the ground and caught a 28-yard TD pass.

Tanner Hill threw the touchdown pass and rushed for 18 yards, while adding a 2-point conversion run and a conversion pass. Tucker Miller scored on a conversion reception.

Hill anchored the defense with 10 tackles and one interception, while Miller had four tackles and one pick. Bradon Long and Jordan Blackwell had six tackles each. Xavier Blackwell added five tackles.

Lane Johnson and Drew Meade had four stops each, while Dawson Thompson and Jacob Robinson each had three tackles.

The 10 and 11 year-old Summerville Indians capped a 7-0 season with 42-0 win over Trion.

Isaac and Isaiah Foster combined for five touchdowns, two interceptions, and a fumble recovery. Tyler Griffin also scored a touchdown in the victory for the Indians, who led 24-0 at halftime.

Michael Adams and Cameron Evans anchored a defense that didn’t allow a single point in three playoff games that saw the Indians outscore their opponents, 134-0.
