Frick's Cave offers an outdoor setting with natural air conditioning. There is a pavilion and the cave air blowing out makes it a perfect picnic spot.
From La Fayette: Take Hwy 193 north to Harold Stephens Road (1 mile north of Bailey's Crossroads/Coulter House). Left on H Stephen's. Left on Frick's Gap, 1 mile, then through pole gate, ford creek, and park at the brick house. The cave is behind the brick house to the west.
The program will include mining techniques, a little chemistry, and history of the Augusta Powderworks. Bring a picnic item to share at the end of the program. Paper goods and cups will be furnished.
