COMMUNITY · Junior golfers up to age 18 are invited to attend summer golf camps at the LaFayette Golf Course. The camps will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9-11 a.m. each day at a cost of $60 per camp. Tuesdays will include work on the driving range, Wednesdays will be spent on the practice greens, and Thursdays will be reserved for on course work. The camps will be directed and taught by Eddie Jackson, a former PGA Tour player who has spent the past 27 years as a teaching professional. A lipid panel will show HDL, LDL, Total cholesterol, non-HDL, cholesterol ratio and triglycerides. A 12-hour fast is required to produce an accurate result. COMMUNITY · PSA screenings will be held from 8-11 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, at Erlanger North (Morrison Springs Road-Chattanooga area). The PSA test is primarily used to screen for prostate cancer in men before symptoms appear. This is a quick blood draw from the arm with results mailed at a later date. Men must be at least 50 years old unless he is between 45 and 50 years old with a family history of prostate cancer. Cost for the screening is $15. Registration is required. The topic will touch on the care of Chattanooga’s poor and underserved within the senior community. The discussion will address current conditions that lead to personal isolation and individuals’ responsibility to the value of community in broad and specific terms.
