Track action at LaFayette Tuesday night saw both the girls and boys’ meets come down to the final race as the LaFayette girls and Cedar Bluff, Ala. Boys pick up wins.

The Lady Ramblers claimed six events and finished with 75 points to edge Cedar Bluff by four points. Ridgeland (10) was a distant third while Gaylesville, Ala. failed to score.

Sarah Lee Kelley was the only multiple event winner for LaFayette. Kelley won both the 1600 (6:06) and the 3200 (13:41).

Rekieta Davis won the triple jump (31-8¾). Jakea Ware took the long jump (14-6½). Jasmine Loving won the 100 (13.39) while the No. 1 4x100 relay team also claimed first place.

Second-place points went to Jayla Shropshire (shot put, discus), Deanna Gaines (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles), Abby Kerr (high jump), Davis (100), Loving (200), the No. 2 4x100 relay team and the No. 1 4x400 relay team.

Amber Crider took third in both hurdles events. Other third-place finishers included Megan Ware (triple jump), Alesia Greer (long jump), Koentae Sligh (800), Princess Ware (200) and Emily Clements (400).

Davis picked up a fourth-place finish in the long jump. Other fourth-place finishers were Sligh (400), Princess Ware (100) and Shacola Caldwell (shot put).

Ridgeland’s Lilly Worley won two events for the Lady Panthers. Worley won the shot put with a throw of 27-1. She also claimed the discus with a mark of 87-10¼.

The boys’ finish was also a nailbiter as Cedar Bluff (79.5 points) won the 4x400 relay to beat Ridgeland by two points. LaFayette (50) was third while Gaylesville (15) was fourth.

The Panthers collected first-place points in six events with two multiple winners.

Michael Roberson won both the 800 (2:21.56) and the 1600 (5:19) while Davelle Foster won the 100 (10.9) and 400 (54.82). Montea Pullom won the 110 hurdles (17.13) while Scott Tanner claimed the 200 (23:18).

Ridgeland placed second in nine events. Pullom was runner-up in the long jump and triple jump.

Clay Turner (high jump), Jon Clark (discus), Ronnie Beasley (100), Alex Hutcheson (110 hurdles) and Jesse Foster (200) were also second. The No. 1 relay teams also placed second in the 4x100 and 4x400 races.

Third-place points went to Mike Bowman (high jump, 300 hurdles), Chad Smith (discus), T.D. Fletcher (400) and the No. 2 4x100 relay team.

Fletcher (long jump) and Bowman (triple jump) placed fourth in their respective events. Nick Langston (high jump) and Paul Walton (100) were fifth.

Isaac Smith’s time of 45.25 was good enough to win the 300 hurdles for LaFayette.

Andrew Elliott (3200), Landon Littlejohn (shot put) and Josh Meyer (1600) placed second for the Ramblers.

Third-place finishes went to Smith (110 hurdles), Dustin Peek (shot put), Jo Cardin (100), Nick Garcia (800) and the No. 1 4x400 relay team.

Preston Wigley (discus) and Matt Bryant (1600) placed fourth.

Cody West was fifth in both hurdles events. Other fifth-place finishers included Garcia (400), Paul Encardes (shot put), Michael Sellers (discus), Joel Cross (triple jump), and the No. 2 4x400 relay team.

Gordon Lee third at LFO tri-meet

The Trojans and Lady Trojans placed third in a tough three-team field on Tuesday.

The Lady Trojans finished with 28 points to trail Woodland (76) and LFO (66) while the Trojans’ 41 points were third to Woodland (74) and LFO (55).

Brittny Morgan won the only event for Gordon Lee, taking the 400 in a time of 1:02.18.

Second-place finishes went to Jordan Bohannon (shot put), Amber Early (long jump, 100) and the 4x100 relay team.

Third-place points went to Amber Vick (shot put), Morgan (high jump), Sara Jewell (100), Early (200) and Lori Sieg (800).

Keri Mathis was fourth in the 300 hurdles.

The Trojans picked up four wins on the boys’ side with two by Kyle Garner. Garner won both the shot put (49-5) and the discus (123-3).

Colin Shields won the high jump (6-2) while Casey Rauscher won the 110 hurdles (18.58).

Shields also had runner-up finishes in the 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles.

Other second-place finishers included Rob Crowder (high jump), Manny Hinkle (pole vault) and the No. 1 4x400 relay team.

Fourth-place points were scored by Matt Thornburg (shot put, 100), Joe Kennedy (discus), Jake Compton (pole vault),

Greg Hickman (200) and Kris Robertson (400)
