Much of Northwest Georgia and Northeast Alabama are under a tornado watch this afternoon as another spring storm moves through the Southeast.

This latest storm was sloshing into the Birmingham area around 2:15 p.m. EDT. The watch is through 8 this evening.

A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes in and around the area.

The forecast:

Today: Cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms likely in the afternoon. A few storms may be severe. Highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain: 60 percent.

Tonight: Mostly cloudy with sowers and thunderstorms likely and then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Lows in the mid 60s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain: 60 percent.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the mid 70s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain: 40 percent.

Sunday night: Mostly cloudy with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the lower 60s. Chance of rain: 50 percent
