Noon today was the deadline for the $2,290 fee to be paid.
Earlier this week there were rumors that someone might run as an independent party candidate against Heiskell, who won the Republican primary on Tuesday by 213 votes.
There are no Democrats running for the post.
To run as an independent on the Nov. 6 ballot, a candidate would also have to turn in signatures of 1,799 registered voters on Monday, Aug. 6.
Another option remains open: Someone could run as a write-in candidate on the November ballot. This option is simpler. To be eligible, the person would simply register with the secretary of state’s office in Atlanta by Sept. 4.
